Letter to Parents from Headteacher Mrs Smith

Dear Parents/Carers

Firstly, welcome back from half term, and welcome to the new era for Holland House Infant School and Nursery.

This is a school that has played a pivotal role in my teaching career, and I am immensely privileged to be returning as Headteacher, nearly twenty years since I first arrived as Deputy.

A lot has changed over that time, I led on the building of the Children’s Centre, whilst supporting with the redesign of the school library, the installation of the trim trail and the original plans for the forest school, originally known as ‘The Secret Garden’. But one thing that hasn’t changed is the dedication and spirit of our staff and the outstanding passion for learning that Holland House instils. I have been fortunate to see it up close as the children have made the step to Town Junior, and now my task as Headteacher of both schools is to ensure even greater collaboration and a consistency of approach for the betterment of the children and families.

We will be working hard to make things clearer and easier for parents, to ensure all the structures families work with will be streamlined and uniform across both schools. One system, that encapsulates the best of both curriculums, sharing best practice, supporting children and families from Nursery all the way to Year 6 and into our fellow Broadleaf Partnership Trust school in Plantsbrook.

At Town we have developed strong links to Plantsbrook, utilising their experience and expertise, and with the forthcoming addition of Court Farm Primary and my role chairing the Learning Trust for Excellence, a collaborative partnership of eleven high performing primaries from across Sutton Coldfield, we are well positioned to take Holland House to even greater standing.

This school, Town Junior, our area and community mean so much to me. Having been born and brought up here, I’ve dedicated a large part of my career to our part of the world. I will continue to do all I can to enhance life for those we serve and provide the best education possible for the children who join us on the journey.

I look forward to meeting you all, and I am always available to listen, support and advise in any way I can.

Mrs A Smith
